Living in the picture perfect area of Nelson, Nigel Morrison milks 240 cows.
Nigel and his family milk once a day on their 20 aside Herringbone system in a beautiful part of New Zealand. After contemplating ways to improve their milking system a decision was made. Resulting in the Morrisons replacing some of the old equipment to improve milk production.
The catalyst for change was due to frustration around inconsistent milk flow. It seemed that the after years of becoming more electric the system wasn’t achieving the outcomes we were looking for, ‘says Nigel.
After a recommendation from Nigel’s neighbour and from speaking to Philip Read at the Rai Valley Show, we decided to make a change, said Nigel.
We replaced our electric pulsators to the mechanical Read slide pulsators. A simple change ensured that the cows quickly got used to the new pulsators. Our girls enjoy the steady mechanical pulsation consistent with the Read slides. “The cows are happy”. The cows now milk out good and clean, says Nigel.
With simple changes to the Morrisons, milking system has resulted in a winning an award from Fonterra. Read Milking Systems congratulate the Morrisons.
